Pages reached by one internal link only

Pages that exactly one internal link leads to — one step from being orphans. A page hanging on one link loses its way in the moment that link changes, and gets little of the site’s authority meanwhile.

NoticeLINK-007 · Links · checked once for the whole site

Where it usually comes from

Pages linked from a single list or menu item, older articles that newer ones never link to, and deep pages reached only through pagination.

How to fix it

  • Link to the page from two or three related pages, in the text, with words that say what it is.
  • Add it to the category or hub page it belongs to.

How to check it yourself

Search your site for the page's address in the links: count the pages that link to it.

What it looks like in a report

Notice Only one page on the site links to this one. · /guides/sizing

The guide is reached only from one product page; the category pages and the menu do not lead to it. (An example shop; the numbers are illustrative.)

How the audit counts it

LINK-007 is a notice in the links category, and weighs lightly in that category’s score. It is a fact about the site as a whole, so it is reported once, not once per page.

If the finding is deliberate on your site, it can be accepted as intentional in the report. It then leaves the list and the score, and comes back on its own if what it shows changes.

Find it on your site

A Trakis audit runs this check and the other 65 on your site, and tells you on how many pages each one sits. Or go back to all the rules.
