Very low text-to-HTML ratio

Pages where visible text is less than 5% of the HTML. The page is mostly markup and scripts. Everything is downloaded on every visit and every crawl, and the actual content is a small part of it.

Where it usually comes from

Page builders and themes that wrap every block in many layers of markup, inline styles and scripts, and large inline data for JavaScript.

How to fix it

  • The pages carry far more code than text. Move scripts and styles into files the browser caches, and remove templates the page does not use.
  • It is rarely a ranking problem on its own; it makes every page slower to download and to read.

Shown for an example shop at www.example.com. In a Trakis report the same fix comes with your own addresses and the list of your pages it applies to.

How to check it yourself

Save the page and compare its size with the length of its visible text. Inline <script> and <style> blocks are the usual weight.

What it looks like in a report

Notice Only 1.6% of the page is text: 4,200 characters inside 260,000 of HTML.

The page is mostly markup and scripts, downloaded on every visit. (An example shop; the numbers are illustrative.)

How the audit counts it

CONTENT-004 is a notice in the content category, and weighs lightly in that category’s score. When it appears on many pages built from the same template, the report shows it once, with the number of pages it covers — because one change in the template fixes all of them.

If the finding is deliberate on your site, it can be accepted as intentional in the report. It then leaves the list and the score, and comes back on its own if what it shows changes.
