A template settles just under the line

A template whose pages all sit just under the thin-content line. When many pages of one template land at the same word count, the text is the template’s, not the page’s: the same boilerplate around a short unique part.

NoticeCONTENT-007 · Content · checked once for the whole site

Where it usually comes from

A template that prints the same boilerplate — shipping terms, a brand paragraph — around a very short unique part on every page.

How to fix it

  • Add a unique part to the template — a description field, specifications, answers to common questions — filled per page.
  • Move boilerplate that repeats on every page (shipping terms, the brand story) to a page of its own and link to it.
  • Start with the pages that bring visitors; a template fix can then follow for the rest.

How to check it yourself

Compare two pages of the same template: count how much of the text is identical and how much belongs to the page.

What it looks like in a report

Notice 17 pages of /product/* have between 260 and 298 words, every one of them just under 300.

The template decides the length, so the fix belongs in the template, not in 17 pages. (An example shop; the numbers are illustrative.)

How the audit counts it

CONTENT-007 is a notice in the content category, and weighs lightly in that category’s score. It is a fact about the site as a whole, so it is reported once, not once per page.

If the finding is deliberate on your site, it can be accepted as intentional in the report. It then leaves the list and the score, and comes back on its own if what it shows changes.
