Page with traffic, without a canonical or with noindex

Pages that bring at least 10 clicks from search but carry noindex or have no canonical. A page that already earns traffic and is set up to leave the index, or to be confused with a duplicate, is traffic about to be lost.

WarningGSC-003 · On-page · checked on every page

Where it usually comes from

A noindex or a canonical change pushed with a template update, landing on a page that already had traffic.

This check needs the site’s traffic from Google Search Console. It runs only when the owner has connected it; without it, the audit leaves it out rather than guess.

How to fix it

  • Remove the noindex if the page should stay in search.
  • Add a canonical pointing at the page itself.

How to check it yourself

Inspect the page with the URL Inspection tool in Search Console, which shows the canonical Google chose and whether indexing is allowed.

What it looks like in a report

Warning 40 clicks in 28 days, and the page asks not to be indexed. · /category/sale

A page earning traffic is about to leave search, usually after a template change. (An example shop; the numbers are illustrative.)

How the audit counts it

GSC-003 is a warning in the on-page category, and weighs moderately in that category’s score. When it appears on many pages built from the same template, the report shows it once, with the number of pages it covers — because one change in the template fixes all of them.

If the finding is deliberate on your site, it can be accepted as intentional in the report. It then leaves the list and the score, and comes back on its own if what it shows changes.
