H1 missing

Pages without an H1 heading. The H1 is the page’s own headline: it tells people and machines what the page is about. On shops it usually goes missing in a category or product template, so one fix covers many pages.

Where it usually comes from

Themes that show the product or category name in a styled <div> or <span> instead of an H1, or pages where the title sits in an image.

How to fix it

  • Give each of these pages exactly one <h1> that says what the page is about — for a category, its name ("Rochii de seară"), not the site's name.
  • If the name is already on the page as a styled <div> or <p>, change that element to <h1> and keep the styling.
  • In a shop the category and product templates usually print it in one place: fix the template, not the pages.
in the template
<h1 class="page-title">{{ category.name }}</h1>

Shown for an example shop at www.example.com. In a Trakis report the same fix comes with your own addresses and the list of your pages it applies to.

How to check it yourself

Open the browser's developer tools, search the page for <h1, and check that there is one heading with the page's subject.

What it looks like in a report

Critical The page has no H1 at all. · 34 pages

Thirty-four category pages show their name in a styled block instead of a heading. (An example shop; the numbers are illustrative.)

How the audit counts it

ONPAGE-006 is a critical in the on-page category, and weighs moderately in that category’s score. When it appears on many pages built from the same template, the report shows it once, with the number of pages it covers — because one change in the template fixes all of them.

If the finding is deliberate on your site, it can be accepted as intentional in the report. It then leaves the list and the score, and comes back on its own if what it shows changes.
